V and co color block pouch
This is a birthday gift for my sister inlaw. She loves :poodle:s and has recently gotten a new :poodle: puppy. She also loves to travel and I thought this was a good bag for taking things in a suitcase.
The pattern is from V and Co. This is the largest of the 3 in the pattern measuring 9.5 by 7 inches. I got the pattern from a vendors booth at a local quilt show and and bought a FQ bundle that included the fabrics used.
Now for the fun part...
Before assembling the bag completely, I embellished one side of the solid black with decorative stitches from my Pfaff Passport 2.0. I didn't do any stitch adjustment, just used the default settings. I did use embroidery threads and stabilize the fabric with interfacing though. I used colorful threads on the top and black in the bobbin.
At Urban Threads.com I found the :poodle: image and yesterday they were having a half-price sale so I got it for $1.50. It is a light stitching file (my favorite), and I layered mylar beneath the black thread of the first step (:poodle: body). I used a silver metallic thread for the dog tag and then a shiny fuschia for the details. I love how this stitched out! My sister in law has a whimsical style about her, and I think this is almost exactly what she would have drawn herself.
After embellishing the plain fabrics I assembled the bag as per pattern directions. There is a tiny bit of hand stitching at the end to make the top corners point nicely, but everything else is done via machine.
