My 13 month old granddaughter has a Little G security Blanky that is very well loved and she has a difficult time letting it go take much needed baths now and then. My clever daughter, Siffstitch, came up with a plan to make baby some additional cows to love, so that the original can be laundered.
Siffstitch took baby to the fabric shop and let her select some minky. Then Siffstitch used a pattern she owns (from Funky Friends) to make the front half of a cow, stuffed it, and sewed it onto the minky. I helped out by sewing the satin blanket binding on both of these.
(Now, we have always thought the original looked like a Cow and baby calls it her “Gow” (can’t say the hard C sound). Only recently we found out it is supposed to be a giraffe, but honestly, it looks more like a cow because it doesn’t have a long neck. Her cousin has the same toy and her family has always called it a cow too. However, since a female giraffe is called a “Cow”, I guess we are not too far off.)
So, last night was the test. Siffstitch put all three of the “Gows” in
bed with baby, and a little while later checked on her. There she was
cuddling with the two NEW Gows and the original was down at the bottom
of the crib, so it was able to be removed and washed while baby still
had a security item. Success!!!!!!!!
Nicely done! These are so cute.
