Ack! Death by adorable!
Such cute foxes! I actually can see them which is saying a lot for my brain. Have you seen that hilarious fox song on you tube that a couple of Swedish DJ's did as a joke that turned viral? Everytime I ses a fox that's what I think of... And the fox says, ringading ding ding ding dong....
I love these! I've seen this pattern and debated on getting it myself, you just pushed me over the edge. These are adorable!!
ArloDeanQuilts I went on her site to buy her Aviatrix Medallion pattern, but as soon as I saw the foxes it was all over.
Terryt1955 They are super cute, I cant stop smiling as I put them together...and yes that song is in my head the whole time...its so awful LOL
PurpleIris Thank you! I am loving them so much. I can definitely see them done in all kinds of fabrics. I see another one or two dozen in my future LOL.
So very cute and I love your fabric choices!
HawkFan Thanks! They are really starting to multiply. I have been sewing them between loads of laundry. I need to do their ears and muzzles (Saved the stupid HST's for last) and then they will be ready to sew into a top.
Erica these foxes are adorable! LOVe the prints you've chosen and can't wait to see all of them together!
Oh my goodness; they are so adorable! I can't wait to see more.
I love those foxes and had to purchase the pattern too. LOVE your approach - the colors are great. I wanted to do them in Liberty, but I don't think that I even begin to have enough. Maybe we should start a Liberty hive! Keep up the great work.
Um yeah, these just keep multiplying and they are the cutest little things! Love them! Jody I would love a Liberty Hive, that would be fun!
These are so wonderful just love your fabrics!!
True ArloDeanQuilts Jody sew_what Dtscrapper thanks ladies! These little guys are coming together really we'll. The original pattern is in Liberty, but that fabric is so pricey I wouldn't want to cut it up. This only uses about 1/2 a jelly roll for the lap size(2 foxes per strip) I could see this being cute in several fabrics including solids.
She also has a whale and hedgehog pattern coming out later this year, and they are super cute, can't wait for those.
Wow! these are super cute! I noticed that pattern on her website, I may have to give it another look!
BTW did you buy the aviatrix medallion pattern? I've been eyeing that one for a long time. I love it!
cally68 Thanks! Yes, I bought that one also and cant wait to start it. I am also waiting on her whale and hedgehog pattern to come out. Did you see the Aviatrix that Lee @ Freshly pieced is working on? its all cotton + steel fabrics and its gorgeous
Skynme , I think these are adorable and what a great quilt they will make. Gorgeous color choices.
I loved this block so much I went and bought the pattern and started one of my own. It will be a baby quilt for a couple I know. I'll upload to my projects by and by. Thanks for the idea!
Sizzlewaggle I can't wait to see it!!! This would look so cute in so many baby fabrics. Will be on the lookout for yours :)
All those warm foxes together look so adorable!
So freakin cute!!! What a great way to show off your stash! Hurry up!
Cutest quilt EVER! I love these foxes Erica and the fabric you used is awesome!
Erica, this is such a great quilt - love those little fox faces and your fabric selection rocks!!
Oh my goodness! This quilt is going to be so adorable when it's finished. All those foxes together are so cute! I really need to try my hand at this.
sew_what Carolmarie Thanks ladies!!! @ sew what- the cutting took the longest time for me, but the blocks go together pretty fast(I'm just a slow sewer). The only thing I didn't like is how the sashing was done. I had to cut the fabric lengthwise to get my strips (56 1/2"). I don't have a really large area to cut and I don't do well with folding fabric to cut it. I'm used to smaller projects not lap size quilts plus the sashing usually runs horizontal not vertical on the quilts I've done. I'm still pretty new to sewing so there is probably an easier way to do this that I don't know.
Skynme This is so cute!! "What does the Fox say"...... I am sure you have heard that very popular song!! I love it...and your fabrics are great!
Conniharns Thanks Conni! now I just need to figure out what to do for the backing so I can finish it up.
Love your foxes, so adorable. And very interested to know a hedgehog pattern will be coming out soon! Visited ohfransson only to find I am also tempted by Aviatrix, as well as Tokyo Subway (as i used to live there and love the bright scrappiness of it). Oh dear, too many fab patterns, not enough time...
I love OhFransson's patterns. The foxes are absolutely adorable (in case I didn't say that previously) and I'm tempted to do this one for my next grand nephew, due in October. Thanks for sharing your fine work.
You did it! You finished the top! Are you thinking of piecing the back? It always takes so much longer than just finding 1 fabric and using that for the back. Someone in my weekly quilt group used this cutest tree fabric for her background which would have been perfect for you but sadly it's no longer made or I'd find a link for you.
Terryt1955 I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the back and then +iminie PM'd me and said she thought I should do an applique fox backing....I don't do applique but I loved the idea of a fox(Thank you for the idea Iminei !!) so I started piecing one together and well...I'm still working on it. Hopefully will be together soon so I can see what everyone thinks about it.
Quilterinmotion Definitely a great quilt for baby and this seems to look really cute with all kinds of fabrics. I hope you try it, and I cant wait to see how it turns out.
Sewhappy The hedgehog is going to be super cute in case you didn't see her sample yet. Also the whales are absolutely adorable. I cant wait to try those when they come out! I also bought her Aviatrix pattern(check out Lee's on Freshly Pieced with all cotton + steel prints), I don't know when I will have time to make that one. I have used her quilted tote pattern several times as well with lots of compliments. I absolutely love all of it! Glad you like it and I cant wait to see all of your projects go up. I love all the different creative ways the projects are done.
Love the back so far...
That pieced back is beautiful. I really like it!
Perfectly wonderful back!
This is so cute. Love your fabrics and your back is going to be great too.
Very nice! I'm looking forward to seeing your back, too. I like a surprise on the back!
OMG, I love the scrappy fox! What a wonderful way to use up the scraps!
A super clever way to avoid appliqueing on the back! And it fits the front perfectly. Well done!!
I really like the pieced back. It's so vibrant.
Quilt455 So true. I keep forgetting what a newbie you are. Although you wouldn't know by looking at all your projects.
Terryt1955 Quilt455 thank you so much ladies! I feel like I have definately improved with the help and support I receive from my threadbias community. I feel very blessed to have all of you as quilty friends. Without your support I would not be where I am. I have gained so much experience and knowledge sewing along with all of you.
Just love this finish...and the back really could be a stand alone quilt. Awesome job! Are you keeping this one?
True thank you!! I'm so happy it's done. I guess it's going to the hubby, he just told me it's his LOL
Super love the backing! Super love the top!!!
Gorgeous finish Erica!!
Amazing back! Love, love, love this one!
Caribousmom HawkFan Aizome Thank you so much! DH said this is his favorite of all the projects that I have made, even though he made fun of my super straight stitching. It is really wavy, but it was like trying to wrestle with an anaconda to quilt this thing. I really need to get that quilt frame put together. Anyway I'm just happy I actually finished another project so I can check it off the list. I want to have my whole list complete by the end of the year if possible.
Erica, based on your phrase "like trying to wrestle with an anaconda" I'm wondering if you watched Wild Kingdom as a kid. I love how Marlin Perkins always stayed out of danger while "Jim wrestled the wild anaconda".
Love how this came out Erica, gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing your next finish! You are so dedicated and speedy - encourages me to focus and get on with some finishes so I can tick them off my list! :-)
Sewhappy Thank you! I'm not really speedy I have had a lot more time to sew since I retired from the Air Force. I have about 50 WIP's that I need to finish before I start school this Fall. Once that happens I probably won't get much done.
HawkFan I didn't; but in this case I was Jim and my DH was Marlin Perkins, safely in the back commentating while I cussed like a sailor and tried to get that quilt to cooperate.
