Description

I found this block on Pinterest but could not track down the name or a tutorial to make it so I drafted it on graph paper and created the tutorial to make the block.

This block is put together in quadrants and makes a great block.  I used ecru fabric as the neutral as I want to join these star blocks to my Snail Trail block from another Bee.

I will show the Snail Trail blocks here to give my fellow Divas an idea of what I mean when I say 'scrappy ecru'.

I'm looking forward to seeing these great stars as they come to me in July.

7 July 2014    I have four of the most gorgeous blocks in my hands this morning.   They came in the mail over the past week from (Hawkfan) Audrey (two as she was Angel for Margaret-Mymble),  Belinda (ArloDeanQuilts),  and Wendy (Caribousmom).   I'm having fun moving them around with the Snail's Trail blocks to see which Stars pick up a color from which Snail's Trail.   Such beautiful colors and color combinations!!!

8 July 2014 Last night I received Mary's block passed right into my hands, from Mary (True).  It was great to finally meet a person I've been corresponding, and swapping, with for two years!   It's a beautiful block, Mary, and I love the colors.

12 July 2014  I received three more fantastic blocks today.   They came in the mail From Erica (Skynme) and Paula (Dtscrapper).  These were fantastic with delicious colors and excellent workmanship.  Yes, the "ecru" was just right too!  Thank you, Ladies!

19 July 2014  I received three more blocks today!   Two came from Karen (readerowl) that are gorgeous, both of them.  One came from Conni (Connihairns) which is just terrrific!   Thank you so much Karen and Conni, you made another day just perfect.

31 July 2014   I received two more blocks!   Carol (Carolmarie) and Cathie (Quilt 455) sent me beautiful blocks.  I'm so thrilled with them!

My month ends and I'm so thrilled with my blocks.  Thank you each and every one.  They are beautiful beyond my imagination.
I put my Snail's Trails blocks from a previous Quilting Bee so I could see them all in one place.  Soon I will have to lay them all out together and see what I want to do with them all.

26 August 2014  I have sewn all my Interrupted Star blocks from my month as July Diva along with my Snail Trail block from last summer's Swap with Plantation friends.   It's about 50x70.   I hope to put the three layers together and quilt it soon!
I'm really pleased with how the two blocks mingle together.  It's going to be an all-time favorite because it represents the work of 18 of my quilting friends!   I'm going to call it the "Interrupted Snail's Trail" quilt, combining part of both names.

Skynme

Great block!

Capetowngirl

Great block - reminds me a little of a Bear claw block

True

Love this block!

Carolmarie Marsha has all information needed on her post in the Group:-)

Quilterinmotion

The received blocks are just so gorgeous. Everyone was worried about their background colors but they are just what I wanted!!! Perfect!!! Looking forward to seeing more blocks as the month goes on. Thanks to Wendy, Belinda and an extra thanks to Audrey for doing two to angel for Margaret. Being Queen for a month is awesome; like a birthday every week!

True

These look great! And you will have one more tonight as I will hand deliver mine when we meet:-)

Quilterinmotion

True , the block you made is awesome and receiving it from you in person was such a great time. Everyone's is wonderful so far, but I have to say I've been surprised to see so many people use the almost the same colors. I did really expect a wide range of colors --- which is NOT to say I'm not happy, I truly am. ANY color is fine in the blocks, gals; you are not restricted to those colors I chose. I didn't reallymost of you would take my sample as the only colors you could use. I'm hoping I don't sound ungrateful. I love my block and they will look so fabulous in a quilt.

True

Quilterinmotion I am glad you like it and last night was so fun!!

Quilterinmotion

True , so glad we agree on that. Hopefully we'll get to do it another time, maybe in Portland next time.

HawkFan

Quilterinmotion Marsha I honestly didn't go based off of your sample. I picked a center fabric and went with what I had that looked good with those. My two have a lot of similarities since I have lots of similar fabrics in my stash.

Quilterinmotion

Carolmarie , I agree! It would be great if we could all meet someday....that's a lot of miles to rack up! HawkFan , it's not a problem just stating that when I looked at those first four I was amazed at the similarities. I love the colors in them!! In fact I told Mary I might change my mind and do a whole quilt with just that block and make up more of them myself. I love them that much!

Skynme

I'm glad you liked them, I'm so sorry I forgot to sign them. I didn't realize it until they were in the mail. Can't wait to see your lovely quilt

Quilterinmotion

Skynme , not to worry. No one signed theirs!

HawkFan

Skynme I forgot about signing too. That's why I've learned to tell my students multiple times what they need to do because that's what I need so I assume they do too. You'd think as an engineer I'd be better at following directions!

Quilterinmotion

HawkFan , you would think teachers would be good at following directions but it just isn't so! No problem with the "no signing" as I have the names written on them now. I think we all have so much going on that the little details (like dates True ) and directions fall by the wayside.

True

For the record I did not have any recall of even reading that I was suppose to sign my name...so not only can I not follow instructions I clearly cannot read either!!

Terryt1955

Include me too on the not seeing about the signing part. This is scary on my part!

On a good note, I am bringing my 4 quadrants to Open Sew tonight so there's no excuse that I won't get it put together!

Quilterinmotion

You all got me wondering if I just thought about asking you to sign but I went back to the Group page for July and looked. Yes, I did ask everyone to sign their blocks but I didn't emphasize with bold or italics and it just blended in with everything else. Don't worry about it!

Clairealex

Eagerly awaiting the arrangement as a top!

Quilterinmotion

One still to come, Clairealex , and then hopefully it will work its way up my list of goals to finish.

Clairealex

I know what you mean about list of ...

True

Love your new block from Terry! Cannot wait to see what you do with all of them:-)

Quilterinmotion

Thank you True and Carolmarie . I can't wait to use them but I really do have to get a few things off my plate first. I'm trying to restrain myself from playing with them on the design wall because then I'll want to sew them together....then I'll want to quilt them.....kind of the "If You Give A Mouse a Cookie" story I used to read to little ones when I taught and to my own children.

True

This is an amazing quilt!!! Love it...wow!!

True

And love name as well...

Readerowl

Wow - you are a genius to arrange the blocks like this. I love it.

Firetones

This top is stunning! Great designing!

Caribousmom

Marsha this looks AMAZING! I love the two blocks together...gorgeous!

Quilterinmotion

True , thank you! Readerowl , I really couldn't figure out any other way to arrange them and I did like the looks of this arrangement. Thank you! Firetones , thank you so much.
Caribousmom , I appreciate your comments --everyone's. I was taking a chance on this because I couldn't realize visualize them together prior to having them in my hand but so happy it worked out! Thank you!

HawkFan

They look wonderful together. What an amazing and unique quilt!

Quilterinmotion

HawkFan and Carolmarie , thank you both for confirming these two were the right combination! It will be a unique quilt thanks to all you lovely ladies who sent me a block in July! I have four more of them (two of my own) that I'm going to piece onto the backing so if anyone didn't see there's in the quilt top, it will be on the back. I had too many to put them all on the front.

Conniharns

Quilterinmotion Wowee...I love your quilt. The colors are great and the design of the two different blocks is eye popping!! Very pretty!

Quilterinmotion

Conniharns , thank you! I wasn't sure they'd look great together when I thought of the idea back before I was choosing my July block but luckily they came together great. You're so kind.

Quilt455

Quilterinmotion Oh My! I love how this looks. I never would have put these two blocks together but they are great!!!!

Quilterinmotion

Quilt455 , I was hoping they'd look good together and apparently I was right---all your great comments, dear TB gals, make me believe I was right in picking these two designs. Thanks so much.

Skynme

These look so wonderful together! What a great way to combine all your quilty friends blocks. This turned out lovely and will make a great memory quilt

Quilterinmotion

Thank you Skynme . It will be a very special quilt always.

ArloDeanQuilts

Quilterinmotion , I am just now seeing this, love all the blocks together!

Quilterinmotion

Thank you, ArloDeanQuilts . I am so happy with how it came together. I felt like I was taking a big risk when I thought of putting the two blocks together but I do like how they look together.
