Blue Bonnets Texas Blue Bonnet Anna Grace 2014 by Speattle
Purl bee baby sunbonnet
My 6 month granddaughter is a native Texan and I was inspired by a photograph taken by my daughter in law to seek out fabric with the state flower, the blue bonnet to make her something.
I found the pattern for the bonnet on the Purl Soho blog, and the sundress is from an old issue of an out of print sewing magazine.
I am so pleased with how these turned out. I had originally set out to just make the bonnet, but there was enough fabric left from the half yard I bought to make the little dress. I used stash fabrics for the contrast and the lining.
There were two bits of eyelet lace trim in my stash that were the perfect size for embellishment. The lace on the bonnet is a little different than the lace on the dress, but I was happy to be able to use up the short bits that I had.
Wearing it as a little tunic now.
