Description

This is pretty much my first project in the quilting world. I am making it for a special person whose birthday is July 4th. Have completed the back, after two tries. Did not like the first so started over. And I have never done a zipper before so had a few issues there as well. But Thanks to Wendy's tutorial, I was able to do it the second time. Found this awesome red, white and blue thread which I used for the diagonal stripes on the back. Now I am ready for the binding which will be the red poka dot. Finished :)

Almost done with adding the buttons. I had to make them because I could not find fabric buttons.

I use vinegar on a lot of stains and it works really well...have used it many time on quilts. BUT I recently read the every best thing to get grease out of fabric/clothes is dish soap as it is made to combat greasy dishes. But should not hurt the quilt either...now I have not tried it but thought I would share idea with you. Good luck and I am sorry...it is lovely!

You'd have to test it on some fabric first but goo gone or WD40 might also work. It may also leave its own stain though which is why I'd test it. I'd try the dish soap first though. You could also check with your dry cleaners

Ideas:
1. relatively safe: Gallseife - ox-gall soap / bile soap - wet the spot rub in the soap thoroughly, leave for a while and then either put it in the machine or handwash ..
2. butter - that is something I would test - I guess it would be the same as using the WD40 HawkFan suggested ... if it's really a grease stain than fat against fat usually works, just smear a little on it and wash normally

Try the dawn soap. If that does not work then cover it with those cute buttons....kidding. you could try a tide stick too.

And since this is your first quilting project, couldn't you have picked an easier pattern? But what fun would that be. You are doing a great job!

Hey Cathie, the dawn soap worked. So no worries, your pillow won't have any black smudges on it. :)

This is gorgeous! This is really great, and difficult for a first project. Great job on this!!!

Cseawright so glad it worked!

Great news that you got the stain out. Beautiful work by the way

Love this pillow...I've always wanted to try this but just haven't found the time yet. Maybe I need to make the time!

Thank you everyone. I have just finished the back after two tries. I have never put a zipper in anything before. Thank you to Wendy for her tutorial on the hidden zipper.
Now working on red poka dot binding.

You did great. Love what you did with the back too. The red binding is perfect. Can not wait to see it in person. Oh ya, can not wait to see it in my favorite chair too. Think it is going on my white rocker so it will really stand out!

Cseawright

Quilt455 I need a pic of it on your white rocker please! :)
