Description

Sometimes called a Star Pinwheel Block or Pinwheel Star Block - whatever it is called, I like it, but wasn't happy with my first attempt so will try a second.  Marsha picked this block as Queen of the Thread Divas Bee for July 2014. She wrote a tutorial for it which is in the link below.  She asked for an ecru or light beige background, and five fabrics, one each for the center and four corners.
July 15. Finished a second of these blocks and am much happier with the points and how things lined up.  However, there were as many stiches picked out as in any project in a long time.  I kept joining up parts wrong. All is well now and I will mail both tomorrow.

This is a beautiful block, Karen. Thanks for giving the known name for it; I had never heard it.

Readerowl

Carolmarie Thank you Carol, I like the look of the 'wood' fabric in this block too.

True

Love the fabric in second block... And yes the wood fabric is really awesome!

I don't see what was wrong with the first block? The colors are wonderful and it sure looks like the points were just fine and dandy.

HawkFan

Terryt1955 I think Karen wanted to be the first to do a block without turquoise wink - beautiful second block Karen

I did love the turquoise in each block, though; glad to have a brown as I have a brown Snail's Trail. I never would have thought to use my architectural fabrics in a block llike this but it's pretty cool! Both so great, Readerowl .

Readerowl

Terryt1955 Marsha will be able to find the points I was talking about, but maybe she will ignore them :)

Readerowl

HawkFan LOL you are right. I chose the leaves from 4 center fabric options, and all the others DID have a turquoise. Love aqua/turquoise but enjoyed working with the fall colors too.

Caribousmom

Love them both, Karen!

Skynme

Love your second block as well its gorgeous. That center fabric is lovely!
