Description

I made this quilt for beautiful baby Ivo from a huge stash of fabric my sister gave me.

Normally I like to use quite muted colours, especially reproduction prints or authentic vintage fabrics.... so I set myself a little challenge to just use fabrics from my sister.

It's all hand sewn, I think Churn Dash is one of my favourite little blocks, it's so simple to sew together and looks most modern in these bright colours.

I used a pure wool wadding, I know it costs a little bit more but it's beautiful to quilt, and has such a soft feel and drape.

I quilted it using a Baptist Fan Pattern, which I love....it feels so tactile against my finger tips.

It's not a very big quilt, the blocks are 6 inches square....I wrote about it's progress on my blog.

When I'm sewing I tend to spread out a fair bit on my work table.....
all the blocks were pieced by hand...
the churn dash block is lovely and easy to put together....

I love this icy blue combination....
the centre of this block is made from some fabric from my Nanny...more dear to me than any Liberty's Tana Lawn...

This is absolutely gorgeous and this is going to be loved and cherished forever. Your hand stitching is lovely, i would love to learn how some day and have the patience to do actually do it. Great quilt!

Hi Skynme... thank you so much.....I strongly believe anyone can sew. My secret is a packet of Werther's Originals... they help me not get flustered or stressed when sewing (or crocheting or knitting)... also a cup of tea works wonders.
