A quilt for Eliza by erickaeckles
Simple patchwork quilt for eliza
We're lucky enough to be blessed with 5 nieces...and over the years I have made each one a quilt.... this quilt is for the newest member of our family...beautiful baby Eliza who was one last year. Her birthday was in November so I made a quilt for a joint birthday/Christmas present.
I just wanted to make something simple and bright for her, and used a selection of reproduction fabrics and some older ones from a huge stash of fabric that my dear friend Sylvia gave me.
The back fabric is from a lovely old cotton duvet cover I picked up for a song from a local charity shop...it was really good quality cotton so I was happy to use it in a quilt.
The patchwork squares were cut a little larger than what I usually work with, and were about 4 inches square 9with a 1/4 inch seam allowance) because I needed the patchwork to sew up quite quickly, and also I thought it showed off the fabrics better. it took just over a week to sew the patchwork and the quilting.
The quilt is modelled by the cutest little blue bunny named Flora which was a present from one of my brilliant sisters.... I can't always cuddle her as much as I like but I can cuddle Flora.
A simple patchwork quilt made for my niece Eliza, modelled by Flora bunny....
The squares are a little larger than I usually work with....
I used a cotton duvet cover for the back...such a pretty floral fabric....
