Description

This is a bag that I made for my sister's 70th birthday.  I used the colors black and white, which are her signature colors, with red accents.  It's a crazy quilting project, so that's why there are irregular shapes, many different textures of fabrics, and it's embellished with embroidery, lace, ribbons, and buttons.  I used some fabric scraps leftover from previous clothing projects along with some remnants bought just for this purpose.  All of the buttons, rickrack, and lace were from my stash, and most of that was inherited from my mom and one of my aunts.  I included some musical prints to reflect her interest in music as well.  The solid red fabric was cut out of some red corduroy slacks that our mom used to like to wear a lot when she was alive.  I got the pattern from a book by Flora Roberts called Crazy Quilting in a Weekend.  It took me much longer than a weekend to complete it though.  I did learn how to use the embroidery features on my new Singer Patchwork sewing machine.

Nice color scheme. The button accents are really cute.
