Description

I found this wonderful pattern designed by Carla Hegeman Crim for a child's bowling shirt. I loved it and especially loved Nancy Halvorsen's new "Mischief" line. I can't wait to see it on my grandson :boy:! I have three more cut out with a second one of different fabric just about completed.

I just found out that my shirt is a finalist in the Summer Sewing Contest at Ellison Lane Quilts! What a wonderful compliment, especially because I'm against some of the more "professional" seamstresses like Amanda and her cute reversible hats! Congrats Amanda!

I now have this shirt for sales at my store Pirates and Pancakes on Etsy.

This is the cutest little shirt on a very cute grandson. I love his hat! I have a 10 month old grandson but maybe I could learn to sew garments by the time he's 2 so he could wear something this cute! Going to go bookmark Carla Hegeman Crim for the future.

+Kmwilson28 :
Are the seams inside the shirt finished so they aren't scratchy? And do you sew with a regular machine or do you have a serger?

What a cute shirt!

Terryt1955: The seams are all finished but I used a sewing machine, not a serger. I used my Flatlock seam on a Husqvarna Viking. The shirt is also lined and the pattern has wonderful instructions. I've sewn for many decades and have noticed that the instructions for patterns have changed :-) (ie: 1/4 or 3/8" instead of 5/8" seams). Pattern calls for the shirt to be put together a little differently than I had learned but it is fun to work on and fits well. The shirt you see is an 18-24 mo size and my grandson is 22 months and he has plenty of room to grow.
