I will be away for the next couple of weeks so am posting early.
I want to make an improv quilt- I have never even made an improv block though!
The quilt that inspired me is this one
I am thinking of a low volume background (think text fabric, geometric designs) with each of you using a single colour for the designed part of your improv block.
You can choose any colour, but it should be bright, not pastel to provide contrast and you may use many different hues or just one fabric.
There are lots of improv block tutorials online (wonky cross, improv log cabin), but really you do not need a tutorial, if this is too difficult I would be happy with something like a line of flying geese off centre in the block or just an offset square of colour.
If you want some more inspiration, here is a cute quilt that has a mix of improv and traditional blocks.
There is no wrong block here, they will all work. If I find more inspiration photos, I will post them. I am so excited to see this come together!
Let's just stick with 12.5" unfinished blocks, but don't stress if they aren't quite that (that is the beauty of the improv... anything goes!)
Please ask questions if you need more direction.
