So fun to see the start of a new project, with all those fun fabrics. Nice design!
Such gorgeous fabrics and the pattern you developed gives the look of different textures
Hey, you snuck that one in here when I wasn't looking! Love it, Mary!
Caribousmom :-). Thank you...had hoped to get further today but got so hot I had to leave my sewing room for awhile!
True It was super hot here too...and suppose to continue with the unseasonably hot weather right through this week unfortunately.
Carolmarie thank you...they are gorgeous. Graphing things out is pretty easy but I am not sure how to tell you how to do it...but you probably could google it. I have been using graph paper do design quilts and blocks since I was in my 20's as it was all I had to use. And now it just really helps me wrap my brain around what I want to do.
Congrats on the top done. It is beautiful.
So glad to hear you say that, True . I always resort to graph paper when I'm trying to figure a quilt layout and how much fabric I need. It's just what I've always done and I can't seem to get comfortable with the quilting programs. I love the fabrics you're using and the design really works so well for the fabrics. Nice work.
Readerowl thank you...very different quilt pattern for me but it was fun and showcases fabrics. And I think it works well for person I made it for:-)
A great pattern showing off even greater fabric. I just love the fabric you used for the outer border. That one closeup picture actually does it justice. Your friend is going to be VERY happy!!
That outer border gives it an elegant, old-world feel.
I just counted how many borders you put o here. Five! I bet they took as long if not longer than the quilt top!
Terryt1955 LOL they took forever!! And I kept thinking how can a border take this long...I always forget!
This is gorgeous, I wanted to get on my computer instead of my phone so I could actually see it. I love the different elements of this quilt and they all come together beautifully. You did an amazing job on this and they are going to love it.
so pretty Mary and I love the dark border- wow!
Quilting looks great! What are you going to use for the binding?
HawkFan thanks! That has been the million dollar question today. I thought maybe scrappy since the fabrics I have enough to do solo just do not do it for me. But not loving how scrappy looks with this particular quilt. So now think will have to buy some more of one...currently leaning towards same fabric as in first border (the teal, peach feathery one). Feel free to offer your ideas!
Sounds like a good plan. I agree that scrappy won't do the top justice. The only other thing might be a low volume peach similar to the peach in the top.
HawkFan there is the all peach fabric in top/collection and I did try it but was worried it drew eye to much to binding?
I can see that being a problem. I'm not good with visualizing - I have to actually see it. You have great design instincts - whatever you decide on will look wonderful
Carolmarie thank you...I am leaning towards the peach that is om quilt after revisiting it after Audrey's comment. I love the sashing fabric but it pulls the eye away from quilt and to the binding...
Oops sashing is not what it is but you know what I mean!
Love this one, mary...it is just gorgeous!
What a gorgeous quilt- they can't help but love it!
Another great one. Just beautiful.
What a wonderful wedding present! You are really plowing through your UFO's!
Terryt1955 I am sure trying!! Thank you...need to try for a better picture next weekend with better light!
Congratulations on another beautiful finish!!
