Description

I started quilting ten years ago quite impulsively.  I was an embroiderer and was attending my very first Craft Show in Sydney with my Mum.  While strolling down the aisles I saw this beautiful quilt that totally captivated me and so an addictive obsession was born!  I knew nothing about quilting, hadn't sewn since high school and didn't have a sewing machine!  In fact, I was so 'quilting' ignorant that I asked the sales lady for the kit for the quilt (such things in Australia didn't exist then)!  She suggested that I take a class at her shop - a quilt top in a day class, a colourwash heart quilt.  I fell in love with the soft pastel roses and flowers and the pretty pinks and blues.  I was, and am, a passionate rose lover and the lovely heart was all about my love for my Family (considerably smaller at that time!!)  It seemed that this quilt was designed with me in mind. So this quilt is the first I ever made.

I gifted this quilt to my Nanna.  She had it with her everyday until she passed away a few years ago and the quilt came back into my possession.  It is very special to my for very many reasons.

What a lovely quilt and a lovely story to go along with it.

Thanks sew much. My Nanna was a lovely lady who had a hard life and deserved lovely things to be made for her. I was priviledged to be the one to be able to do that. blue_heart Karen.

I love this quilt and the story is wonderful. I have always wanted to make a small one of these and even bought a book a few years ago but got overwhelmed by how to figure out fabrics...I need to go back to it!
