Description

I saw the Aeroplane Bag on one of the blogs I read regularly.  The pattern was designed by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness.
I saw the bags in July I think.   I knew I wanted to make one but hadn't started shopping for supplies when I saw a MassDrop offer come in the email to get the pattern and all the fusibles and interfacings plus the long zipper for a discounted price.  I hadn't used MassDrop before but decided to give it a go.   I'm not disappointed!

Just shopping around for the various fusibles and interfacings would have taken quite a while!  I was so pleased with my package when it arrived in early October after a serious time delay from one of the manufacturers of the zippers.  I wasn't sure I'd have enough time to actually complete the bag before the quilt retreat I'm going to next week.

I had two weeks of interruptions but still managed to finish the Aeroplane Bag yesterday.   The photos and patterns were quite good and making the bag wasn't difficult at all.

I used two home dec fabrics I had on had and some fabrics from my stash for the lining.  No shopping necessary for this bag, thanks to MassDrop.

I chose to quilt the upper panels of the bag but that was optional.  I even quilted my "QuilterinMotion" name on one of the panels.   I can't wait to use it to carry my sewing machine to a quilt retreat next Wednesday.

I've thought about making this bag. Glad your experience was so good. Enjoy the retreat in style!

I have been wanting to make this bag for awhile and yours turned out fantastic!!! I am so happy to hear that the instructions were easy to understand. Sometimes these patterns are very difficult. LOVE what you did with this one!!!

Sorry the photos were delayed! We are in a campground with poor wifi. One bar and last night it wouldn't download any. This time it went perfectly. Thanks, Readerowl , I will. Skynme , I know what you mean. Sometimes instructions are stinky but these were good. Only one place she doesn't tell you to put RSTs together and you have to think about it first (pockets). It really does go together well.

True

Love this bag! And have a great time,

Love your fabrics!

Great version ! Very bright !
( a little question : the meaning of RST is right side together ? )

Great bag! Love the colors!

Oops, now I see that's it's for your sewing machine 

Gardencrafter ,
It is a bag for anything the pattern has two sizes I made the larger one which the designer said would hold a sewing machine . It still has room for a few projects bags and such it is a useful size

Florence , it does mean right sides together Thanks everyone!

Just finished this bag as well! Wasn't as difficult as I thought but wrote a couple hints to remember for next time. I like your idea of using home decor fabrics. I used linen as one of my fabrics and it worked well. Need to put pics in my gallery now.

Yes, Stlcaverly, do put up some photos. I'd love to see your version.
