Description

I made some extra blocks of Snail Trail for my Newbie Hive 7 Group. I really loved making the Oct. block. So I was planning on using the plain block when it was suggested by +sizzlewaggle (Sue) that I add one of my Frida fussy cuts to it and let Frida travel the USA. I have moved Frida from her garden in Mexico to Paris and again to Africa, so it does seem fitting that she should tour the USA. I will call this one "Frida in the USA". I mailed her today and will not see her until next Spring. Safe Journey. But, Frida's parrot suffered an accident during the raw-edge applique process and had his little wing clipped. I learned a repair trick awhile ago to stitch cream or grey colored tulle or fine netting on the top of the snip and clip close to the stitching. The tulle is almost transparent at a distance, yet it keeps the cut edge from catching on anything and tearing more. Then, on the back, attach a patch with fusible webbing and a tiny piece of fabric. Sorry little parrot. :(. I hope I repaired your wing well enough that you can enjoy your travels with Ms. Frida..... Just got an update. I love the way this one is comming along!

Sizzlewaggle

Oh, I love this! I can't wait to welcome her to California! And, I think it is cool that you liked my suggestion. Now, I have to pick one of three starter blocks I made to mail to Florida tomorrow!

Charwirfs

Sizzlewaggle it was a great suggestion. I am looking forward to see what arrives in my mailbox in a few days.

16muddyfeet

This one is going to make me think!

HawkFan

This would be a fun one to work on!

+Frida looks very comfortable there on the snail's trail. It sounds like she might be moving at a snail's pace if she won't be back until Spring (LOL). This is a great block to start your Improv group off.

Charwirfs

Quilterinmotion thank you. It will be fun to see what she picks up along the journey.

Quilterinmotion

Charwirfs , those are always interesting. Love looking at completed Improvs for idea.

Ibtreerock

I can't deny it, I have major quilt envy right now! I love how this is looking! So unique!

Charwirfs

Ibtreerock I know.... Thank you...I just have a little tiny block in this. Three others have added all that cool stuff. I can hardly wait to get this back in a few months. It has a few more rounds to go yet.
