A Bunch of Crosses by Sewhappy

Bunch of crosses

For my October pillow Bunch of Crosses I decided to use Vintage Happy by Lori Holt which is 4 fat quarters printed in 1 yard, and added Love Notes by Echo Park and a stripe from a leftover Noteworthy layer cake.  I cut all the 2 1/2 inch squares, and then gave the squares and the A Bunch of Crosses instructions to my 10 year old son and asked him to design the layout.  He really enjoyed working it all out, and I used his design.   When it came to the back (which was today) I saw the chicken fabric out - I had just cut off part of it to send to my sister for her birthday (Gardencrafter - who loves her chickens).  I decided that the colours went well with the front and it would be a fun back, along with the eggs on the red ( as my son called it).  So with the back now complete, including Caribousmom's zipper, I only had to quilt the front.  After deciding to do some straight line quilting I went to put my walking foot on, only to find it was damaged when a tall CD shelf recently fell over onto my sewing machine cabinet.  :-(   So quilting went a bit slowly with only my regular foot.  I also have come to realise that I am a JIT (Just in Time) project finisher, as for the last 4 pillows I have only just competed my pillows by the deadline - and by the hair of my chinny chin chin.    But I love all my pillows and am so pleased to have the Pillow Pop group to encourage and inspire me, and the Monthly Round-up to get me to finish!

I love your pillow. It is so happy

Sue - this is another stunning pillow to add to your collection. Rather envious of all your beautiful pillows in your guest room.

What a great design for a pillow. I have some black and white scraps left over from a recent project. Thanks for the inspiration.

Cute fabrics!! I love the chickens. Have you seen her new book that is coming out in Spring...its going to be filled with cute little farm/vintage projects.

Sue, I love this pillow. Your son has a great eye for design!!! And those chickens on the back? Adorable!!

I love your happy pillow - especially the back!

I love your pillow..so bright and fun. The chickens are so cute and makes a cheery happy pillow!

Readerowl Charwirfs Capetowngirl Quilt455 Thanks, I love the bright prints, and how it brightens up our room!

Skynme Thanks, I love the chickens too, and had been wanting to use them. I haven't heard about the new book - but I will definitely look for it!

luvstitching Caribousmom I know, aren't the chickens great - I was thinking the pillow could be 'reversible' so I can have the chickens visit sometimes :-)

Loving the pillow and I have to agree with everybody else, the chickens are adorable. What a great idea!

Sewhappy I think its going to be called Vintage Farm Girl, its supposed to be out early 2015. Fat Quarter Shop posted pictures on IG during a photo shoot. Looks like baby chicks, Hens, Sheep, and some fruit will be in the mix of quilt blocks. I will probably have to break down and buy it just for the cute little animals.

Love the fabrics you chose and the design is wonderful- what a great job!
