Barn Bats Pillow by Saruqa

Home & Decoration

Now that she FINALLY received it, I can post the pillow I made for +libellenart. She wanted a combination of black, white, grey and beige for her office. She requested a masculine design for her "kids of all ages". With that ideas, the Barn Bats block came to my mind, and I was sure when I saw in her "Likes" she liked a quilt with that pattern. I used fabrics from my stash and they are not 100% "masculine" (some have flowers, and even hearts!), but I think the colour combination and the pattern make it look masculine as a whole (I'm not sure if it helps, but I put the hearts facing down on purpose). All fabrics are quilting fabrics, except for the solid black, that is a kind of cotton satin leftover from a pair of trousers I made some time ago. It gives the pillow a glossy look that I think makes it stand out a bit more.
On the pattern, I clearly overestimated my sewing skills and the result is far from perfect, but I tried to "hide" the imperfections by making sure the central bats are ok, so that the mistakes are in the top and bottom bats. I think the quilting helps too.
I did not take a picture of the back, but it is made of the leftovers from the front and it has a hidden zipper, for wich I used +Caribousmom tutorial here.
The pilow took me more time than I expected, and I had some other issues on the last week of November, so I ended up sending it late, and as it had to cross the ocean, it only arrived now. I hope it was worth the wait!

Can you Ladies believe it ? I am the lucky person who received this wonderful pillow and it was well worth the wait grin
It fits wonderfully on the couch in the " man cave". The fabric choice is perfect ( I don't mind the hearts at all) and it goes well with the guys decor in the office black and tan . I am so happy about this pillow and what is more important my husband likes it too!!!
