Description

Since I was pregnant with my now two year old, I've wanted to make him a blanket.... So as we've gone to the fabric store I've let him pick out fabrics he likes- tractors, jeeps, bugs, planes... Ack, I just realized I'm missing trains! Too late! Anyway, it was really hard to not have a finite color palette, but I'm hoping the sashing will tie it together. He doesn't realize he's "helping" me with what will hopefully be his Christmas gift!

June 9- On the home stretch! This project got stalled because my sashings didn't line up.... A product of too much multitasking! And I decided I just had to replace one of the log cabin centers (a pain!!). Then I decided, I really didn't care that the sashings didn't line up.... So, onward and upward!

I love little helpers like that! This is going to be one treasured quilt. I have let my grandson pick out fat quarters when we have travelled with him, but only a couple ever ended up in something made for him. Merry Christmas!

Charwirfs

He certainly loves it! I Spy is all about enjoying favorite fabrics and he will enjoy the finished project for years to come. I like the look of no sashing. Your blocks look good the way you have them laid out. It may look busy and unorganized to you, but he has each piece already sorted out.

Love the pictures of him helping and what a wonderful idea for a quilt for him

Aizome

Love your little helper and his overalls! I spy quilts are so cool.

Charwirfs , I suppose if I'd listened.... I wouldn't have had the problem of seams not lining up! But I thought I needed them to get some cohesion to the chaos

Your little boy will love his blanket - and remember that what ever you see as a mistake ( or not quite how you wanted it) he will see a beautiful blankey made with love by his mummy.

Ibtreerock

Capetowngirl , thank you for that! That's exactly my wish!

I am so glad you are going ahead and finishing this project. i love the color and the scrappy look and your little guy does too.

This is beyond wonderful - and the memories of planning and helping make it such a treasure- a gift of love - and sashings? - no worries - it looks marvelous !
