Description

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I made a kaleidoscope quilt from strip sets after a Ricky Tims workshop. I saved the cutaway pieces for some future use. I started to see Bonnie Hunter's crumb piecing taken to new levels by Weeks Ringle, Victoria Findlay Wolfe, and Jacquie Gering and planned this quilt.

Jolene of Good Knight Quilts did the quilting and I love it. The squares are computer assisted; the curves and pebbles are free motion. I also had her bind it since my space is limited.

2/8 No new work on it; just added it to "improv experiment" group. Only work left to do is to remove a stain on the white. Grrr.

3/16/15 Stain removed thanks to COIT cleaner and restoration service. Now it is ready for its trip to Paducah.

This is beautiful. The quilting is stunning.

Clairealex

cally68 Thanks. I can agree with you since I didn't do it. :-)

HawkFan

Wow, love it!

Quilt455

WOW! Glad you saved those cutaway pieces.

Clairealex

thanks HawkFan and Quilt455 !

omg... this is s stunning... the pattern is visually amazing... and the quilting elevates the quilt many notches.

Clairealex

Thanks quiltengineer . I too am in awe of Jolene's quilting.

Juline

It's impressive! I love that you made it from leftovers. Jolene quilted the giant bedspread I made for my mom. If I could afford to send all my quilts out, she'd be it. :)

Charlie

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the progress.

Clairealex

Charlie and Juline Thanks! Yes. Sometimes i wish I could quilt like Jolene; other times that I could afford to have her quilt them all!. And it was fun to finally find something for those leftovers.

Charlie

I love leftovers. Sometimes, they take on a life of their own as in your Cracked Ice quilt, other times they just keep reproducing!! Those triangle pieces, for instance, that you 'shave' from some block pieces. Looking for a some great ideas. When is this gorgeous piece hitting Paducah? Can't wait to hear what happens.

Clairealex

Charlie Paducah show is April 22-25. More would be fun, but I' m excited just to be in. I hear ya on the triangles! My quilt "Butterfly outtake" is made from them. Some day I'll finish it.

Charlie

Is Butterfly outtake on here anywhere?

Clairealex

Charlie It is 19th down when I click on "all" of my projects. I haven't worked on it for quite a while so it doesn't come up with "recent."

Charlie

Thanks, glad to see others who lay aside projects for later.
