Description

This is my version of the January Little Quilts Sewalong - Drawn Together mini. I'll likely put all the minis up in my sewing room which needs brightening up since it's in the basement. I'm thinking of going with a rainbow theme for all of the ones I decide to make.

I love the look of hand quilting so I went with the pattern and did it on this mini. I took pretty big stitches - It's OK from a distance but up close it's not great - I'm referring to it as either "rustic" or "primitive". I also didn't do a fantastic job of matching points, etc but it's just for me and I'm happy with it. It was that or stress over it and since I'm not gifting it, I went with the low-stress option.

I went a bit off-script and made a symmetrical border, using the center star material for the border. The plan is to bind it with a blue text on white fabric.

The mini is finished! I used some fun Dan Bennett fabric on the back.

Mymble

This is so beautiful Audrey- love your colors and super hand stitching!

I love the hand stitching, and the bright colors. The blue print gives such motion to the center - nice to have it repeated in a border.

As you already know from IG I love this...it is really beautiful. It is so fun seeing all these minis done in so many different ways...really helps open ones eyes to the magic of the world of quilting!

True words, Mary, ... this magic was the reason for me to start quilting ... ;D

Your color-range is beautyful, Audrey, just like a rainbow, only violett is absent ... I love these vibrants ... ;)))
Your quilting is perfect ...
I'll make my first stiches now ... ;)

Mymble Thanks Margaret. This is just about the right amount of hand quilting. I could never do a whole quilt.

HawkFan

Readerowl Thank you Karen. I liked the symmetry of repeating the center fabric as the border

HawkFan

HawkFan

nachtpedalquilts Thank you Kirsten. I'm looking forward to seeing your quilting.

Capetowngirl

I love your interpretation. It is so warm. I was thinking of following a theme with the quilts I chose to do - not sure though. Must get this one complete

HawkFan

Capetowngirl Thank you Candice. Looking forward to seeing your interpretation of this one

Carolmarie Thanks Carol. I'm sure you can find spots for them around your house. That's the nice thing about doing minis!

HawkFan

Quilt455 Thanks Cathie. Things will get busy for me very soon so I'm taking advantage of the time I have now.

I like your version of rainbow colors. Beautiful. I knew I wanted rainbow colors, but it never occurred to me to place like this. The hand quilting is pretty.

HawkFan

Thanks Drnic2c That's so funny Nicole since your version of the rainbow never would have occurred to me. Guess great minds DON'T always think alike wink
