This is just beautiful and I love it on every level...she will be thrilled!
Oh and such a perfect use if the KF fabric
Very nice... love the design and the execution with attention to detail, with the moon and all...
What is the pattern/design? Can you link to it? Thanks.
I LOVE THIS! I am in a Valentine's Day Swap. I think this would be perfect! :)
Really great and I found the moon- love it!
Speattle There isn't an actual pattern I could find. I saw it on Pinterest and tried to track down a pattern. I did find her website where she indicated she had kits available at what I think was the Australian Quilt show last year. I really wanted to make this so I printed out a copy and traced the pattern. I've emailed her to offer to pay for the "pattern" I made from her design but I don't think the email address is valid any more
you are so good. Your daughter is so lucky. the hand quilting adds so much to this.
This is absolutely, truely an awesome piece. I love how the form is hightened by the bright KF fabric (and what better than pink for such a message) and is balanced with the background.
I may be a little old, but what about adopting me?
Thank you rike - I thought this was a perfect project for some KF fabric and while my daughter isn't a fan of pink, it has to be pink in this case so I know she won't complain. If she does, maybe I'll get your address and send it to you instead
Carolmarie - thanks Carol. I did a lot of tracing as my freehanding leaves a lot to be desired. An artist I am not.
Carolmarie There's not a lot you can do if you have lots of pieces coming together. Some recommend pressing all seams open, others grade the seams. Take a look at this video but skip to 6 minutes in
She removes some of the stitches to make it easier to "smoosh" it open. I've even read of someone using a hammer to flatten it out.
OMG...I love this! I tried hunting this pattern down but like you said....it's nowhere!! You are too clever because this came out so cute....and no pattern! Genius!
Of course I had to go back and look for the moon. Who could resist hunting for it after you mentioned it! I loved this when you put it on IG and I love it more now. What a great gift between mom and daughter. She will cherish it I'm sure.
Quilterinmotion Thanks Marsha. Trying to decide how much to tell her about the hidden moon - nothing at all for a while or a little hint?
Leave it to me to not be able to see the moon right away! I think you better give her a hint to look for the hidden surprise if she's anything like me.
Such a darling mini and I agree, she will love this forever. I can see it going in a nursery down the road!
Terryt1955 Thank you Terry. I put in a note that says "you'll find a hidden item in the quilt". Taking it out to her today (I'm visiting her this week while she's on break) but she can't open it til Feb 1
You could give a vague hint, like I LOVE you over the MOON and back or whatever your phrase is but capitalizing those two words. Maybe....
My daughter saw this on my Pinterest board and commented it reminded her of the Beatles lettering in "Yellow Submarine". (My daughter is a graphic designer and all about font!
Quilterinmotion I can see the similarity to Yellow Submarine. Dropped it off with her this week - I'm sure she'll catch my meaning pretty quickly since we think so much alike.
Audrey, this is amazing...it is so beautifully made. I am sure your daughter will treasure it forever!
