Description

I put "dreams" in the title since I'm dreaming of a day warm enough to actually see a dragonfly. I don't think we got up to zero degrees today and wind chills put us as low as 35 below. A great day to stay in and quilt so that's what I did. I had seen this paper pieced dragonfly pattern in Quilt it...Today magazine (sorry, no clue what issue - I tore the pattern out of the magazine and recycled it). I had some beautiful hand-dyed purple fabrics that I used for the dragonfly and the centers of the diamond-in-a-square corners. I wish there was more contrast between the body and the wings but it's still nice.

I hand-stitched the antennae with black DMC floss. Everything is from my stash but all I've done recently are small projects so at this rate, it will take me several lifetimes to use up a significant part of my stash

Jan 8, 2015 - finished! I wish the quilting showed up better on the back but I think I like the quilting I did on this better than any other quilt I've done. I didn't do straight-line quilting but I did a better job than I've done with regular FMQ. I drew the approximate lines I wanted to quilt with a Frixion pen and went from there.

This is going to go up in my sewing room along with my Rainbow Drawn Together mini

I just had to include a completely gratuitous picture of Scout

True Thanks Mary. I think I had forgotten about the good luck aspect of it. Perfect for a new year's project then!

Siffstitch

Dragonflies may be my favorite insect. This is great!

HawkFan

Thanks Siffstitch It's funny how some insects are more acceptable than others. Haven't seen too many fly quilts LOL
