Description

I knew that if I sewed my older daughter a backpack, she'd want her little sister to have one too (she's really good about sharing and being fair), plus my younger daughter might want it herself. When we went to look for fabric at Fabric Mart in Honolulu (great selections, great prices, plus an online store), she lunged for the cow fabric, calling "Moo!" She also liked the yellow fabric with flowers (Trendtex Fabrics pattern HTPG-1005; the cow fabric didn't have a name). I put the cow fabric on the inside so that the two backpacks would match a little more, and used the yellow for both the outside and a little pocket. She took her time looking at the varieties of cord colors before settling on purple, which goes nicely with the gold grommets: UW Huskies are purple and gold.

Were the grommets hard to put in? Do you need a special tool?

I used two pairs of needle-nosed pliers.

don't they have to be pounded in somehow?

I used the pliers to bend them into place.
