Description

A-line skirt, based on a 1981 pattern for an unlined, side zip skirt.  This will be lined, with sideseam pockets, and an invisible zip in a back seam.  It will also be a fair bit shorter that the original.  Essentially, just used the old pattern for the shape and darts.  Used some of my pyjama poplin for the pockets.  Tacked up hem to 22" below waistband.
Machine hemmed skirt and lining separately, then handtacked the lining to the bottom of the side seams to prevent it riding up.  Button to fasten waistband.  Plain, but useful!

Carolmarie I have really got the bug for sewing clothes at the moment - inspired by the third Great British Sewing Bee, which was on recently. I seem to be finally managing to make things that fit and I will wear - after quite a few attempts that just weren't right. It is satisfying - I would say, go for it!
