Purl bee pillowcases for every bed
My middlest brother turns 50 this month and he really admires the Seahawk Pillowcase I made for this 4 year old son last month. So, I decided to make him his own pillow case with a bit of embroidery to play off his milestone birthday.
I used the tutorial from Purlbee for this one. It is a little different than the standard burrito style pillowcase construction that is so popular and I think I might like this one better. It seems to fit the standard size pillow better than the other type and I love the little inside flap on the back which holds the pillow neatly in place. One change I'd make next time though is to do the burrito seam enclosure on the front cuff and then continue on with construction. Of course to do this one would have to cut the cuff piece an additional 6 inches wider.
This goes together quite quickly, but of course, I had to add the bit of embroidery and add an accent strip, so that added to my time.
Like other pillowcases, be aware of directional print on your fabric.
