Gray Shorts by bebejohnson
4/14/15 I am making these shorts for a pants sewing class I am taking at Quilters Emporium on 4/25 and 4/26. The required pattern is Kwik Sew 3363. I am using the shorts view in a plus size. The fabric I have chosen is a Charcoal Wrinkle Release Bottom Weight fabric from Jo-Ann Fabrics.
I am making the ^poodles-on-pink-polka-dot-shirt to coordinate with these shorts.
4/26/15 Didn't get to start on the actual gray fabric. We learned how to take our measurements for pants in the class and to adjust the pattern to our size. I seemed to have more trouble that the others with this. We added A LOT to my pattern because I'm really big girl and the pattern wasn't even close to my size. We made a muslin first, so when I sewed up the muslin and tried it on, it was too big (by about exactly how much I added which was 7 inches). The teacher had taken my measurements and done the math for adding to the pattern. She couldn't figure out what had happened. So I adjusted the pattern and muslin and sewed it up again. It was still too big by another 1 on each side. So once I finally got the muslin and pattern fixed to my size, the class was done. I will have to retrace the pattern to the correct size, and start with the actual fabric. I went out and invested in an entire bolt of muslin. Looks like I'll be using it a lot with all the clothing project I have going on.
