My second attempt at this romper. This one fits Sprout much better. She wears 12-18 month clothing. The tutorial is written for size 18-24 month. I didn't alter the cuts at all this time. However, I did still make a 1" hem at the bottom before turning the dress into a romper. So that probably shortened the romper by about 3/4-1". But that worked out here.
The elastic at the top sits on her loosely, as do the legs. So there is plenty of room to grow in it this summer. I'm happy she will get lots of use out of it!
I didn't have to look at the tutorial at all this time. I impressed myself by even remembering the steps for turning a dress into a romper. It went much faster, too. I could probably make this little romper in about 1.5-2 hours now. :-)
I'd love to see it in a knit fabric without a ruffle, with a turned hem, close-fitting at the top instead of elastic. But not any time soon!
