Description

This is a friendship quilt that has been languishing. I think I'll finish it and donate it. I need suggestions for sashing. The fabric I had originally bought doesn't look right. What would you use?

....I wonder how sashing in a color similar to that mustard color on the lower right corner would look.

What is the dark color in lock on right end of second row...and what was original plan? Also regardless of color go with if you add cornerstones from some or one of other fabrics in quilt might help you like it better.

Good suggestions so far. I think I was going to use the mustard color for cornerstones since it's kind of an odd block. Thanks for reminding me True !

Firetones

What about sashing in the green color of the flower in the lower left of the four-patch?

True

Cannot wait to see and lock means block of course in my poor typing language;-)

+Firestones with or without cornerstones? Also True the color you asked about is a dark brown.

I guess I can't edit my post, meant to tag Firetones Oy Vey!

I think I've found my sashing! It's the light from Audrey's block! I just need to figure out how much I need.

So now my question is - for the pieces that go around the outside they're longer than WOF, would you piece them or buy enough yardage so that you have a continuous piece?

Back to the drawing board, the sashing fabric is unavailable. I thought I found some on Etsy but it sold the day before I inquired. UGH!

I agree with Carolmarie, I would use white or cream for sashing and then the mustard for cornerstones. It would give some light to the quilt. I personally think a dark color wouldn't work for sashing but I can see it in the binding to frame your beautiful quilt.... the extra bonus is, that way you can piece it and it wouldnt matter a bit smile

UPDATE - I found some fabric for the sashing that I really like, thought I'd share it here, it's not sewn together yet, but it next in line when I get a chance to sit down and sew. I really like how it's looking now! Thanks for all your help!

Love what you have found for the sashing...perfect! And I would piece longer pieces and with this fabric will barely notice at all. Cannot wait to see it done:-)

Can't wait to see this all come together. I love your blocks

Drnic2c

Love your sashing fabric.

Just a note on piecing. I always piece with an angled seam so it is less noticeable than a seem going vertically or horizontally. No need to buy yardage to get one whole piece for long borders :). Probably way late on saying that. Love the colors!
