Description

Just a little pencil pouch/notions pouch I whipped up for a friend of mine that I'm sending mini-skeins of yarn to.  Thankfully, they all fit inside...though they're a bit crowded.  I had a lot of fun piecing this together and quilting it.  I could have done the zipper tabs a bit better and more neatly, but I'm improving each time I do these.

Cute! I like the center panel and the turquoise zipper! Those little zipper tabs are hard - I finally feel like I got the hang of them once I followed Elizabeth Hartman's pattern for the perfect zip bags. I think she describes how they work very well. Basically though, you want the seam to go right next to those little tabs when you are constructing the bag and not through them. Then when you flip it around right side out they aren't being pulled down to the inside. If the seam is right next to them, then the holes left at the ends will be very small and unnoticeable.

See, and that's what I think I did wrong. I caught the end of the tabs in the seam even though I tried to work around them. Thank you for the tip! blush

This is really adorable! I love the fussy cut center!

Thank you!

You're welcome. Hope it helps! I know I made quite a few similar things not realizing that I needed to make sure and avoid those tabs and that's why it wouldn't pop out correctly.

This is darling. Like everyone else - I love the fussy cut center! I have yet to try making things with zippers...they scare me!
