Description

After receiving several comments from coworkers on the recent scrap quilt I made and posted on facebook, I heard from one that her mom would love and appreciate something like it. After she asked what one would cost to make and labor (always a conversation I struggle with!!), I offered to make a smaller version (each scrappy square is 1", so 2" square for the 4-pathches), keep track of my time and supplies, and give her a total when I was done so she could have first dibs on it. I gave her the total this morning. Still waiting to see if she wants it or not. Other than going out and buying the gray and white, the rest of the fabrics were from my stash/scrap bin :)

Pictures

Sorry, the picture is blurry. I have yet to get a finished project photo with the borders, quilting and binding.

A great scrap quilt...will be interested to hear what she says as I think people so do not get what it takes to make a quilt!

Great use of scraps!

True I know!! Anxious to hear myself. I did estimate the time within 1/2 an hour and the supplies were less than I estimated, so none of the numbers would have been a surprise. However, I understand that most people don't have that kind of money to pay for a handmade quilt and I feel bad for charging it because of that--even if that is the value. She did seem really excited when she saw it, but I haven't heard anything more yet. Maybe when she gets back from lunch!

meggiejoy I seldom agree to do quilts for money as I am so not good as asking what they are worth!

Thank you for the compliments!

Well, the verdict is in. Apparently her mom doesn't have space for it to hang on a wall, so they passed. Kinda bummed. Not sure what to do with it now. I have so many quilts already sitting around in pillowcases not being used. sigh
