Northeast Block for August Diva by Quilterinmotion
I'm the August recipient of the Thread Divas BOM. I have picked out my blocks and even wrote a tutorial that will show up on my blog tomorrow, Saturday.
The original block was called "Northwest QAYG" and it's a great block. I decided mine had to be called "Northeast Block" since I'm from the Northeast, always go Northeast when we head 'home' for the summer and will always love the Northeast states.
The block is made somewhat like a log cabin in that you add strips to the starting square, then it changes a bit to create a triangle in the top right corner, a "flying geese" variation. I was going to have my swapmates do a Flying geese paper-piecing block but when I saw this block, I thought they'd all be happier not having to do paper-piecing. They haven't been shy about not being the PP addict that I am!
The original tutorial I found is HERE at Hey, Let's Make Stuff. .http://heyletsmakestuff.com/2014/05/01/north-west-quilt-go-block-tutorial/
For my block, I have requested grays going from light to dark and a main color going from dark to light for contrast. All information will be on the Thread Divas group page as soon as possible.
There has been a request for a paper-pieced block so I put together this same block in paper-piecing format. It's a pretty easy paper-piecing pattern. I will be mailing out a copy to each Thread Divas member as I don't have a way to do a pdf currently.
