Description

7/25...This is one of two pieces using a basic fusible applique technique. But now I'm mulling over quilting. I don't want to satin stitch the edges, I'm thinking just a matchstick pattern over the whole thing. But what color? Super light gray ? The design measures 14 x 17.

7/26...Spock was a little more labor-intensive. And there's a spot where I had to fuss so much with a curve that there are only a few threads left, so I'm going to have to do a little patchwork. I think once it's quilted it won't be noticeable, though.

7/27...Both pieces are fused. I'll find something for the backs tomorrow, then baste, and contemplate stitching. I may outline the hand and then stitch and echo the Vulcan flag over that. I think the face is going to need some good matchstick quilting, though, considering all the raw edges. I think it's too much to do any outlining.

My mum-in-law would love this! She is a hard core Star Trek fan. What about variegated thread, white to mid grey? Deciding on thread color can be deceptively difficult!

Wow, great job with this

Amazing work!

Juline

HawkFan and True , thank you. It's actually very easy. Find an image, posterize it (you can use Picasa), play with number of colors and details, print, trace to fusible, etc.

Juline For you it may be easy but I'm thinking in my head "no way".
This is amazing.

Juline

Terryt1955 , this is a decent tutorial of the method I used.
