Description

I saw this quilting book on Pinterest and was lucky enough to find it at my local library. Since I've renewed it two times already I'll probably end up buying it since I loved all of the quilts in it. The one that grabbed my attention was "Skipper" since it seemed perfect for a baby quilt and a stash buster.

I will be giving this to one of my daughter's friend who has already had the baby (#2). I made the first baby a quilt but it was right when I was first learning how to quilt and was one of those Jelly Roll Race quilts that I started the day before the shower. This time I wanted to make a more satisfying quilt that was worth taking a picture of.

July 26th, 2015 Blocks are done now onto making the rows and sashing.

July 27th Finished the rows last night trying to distract myself.
Aug 2: Just finished the horizontal sashings. Wish I had another day of the weekend to do the borders.
Aug 14th Just finished the striped border and hope to get the final solid border on tonight. Why do borders take so long?
Aug 15th top done. Love Fridays when I can stay up till 2am !

Love your version of this quilt the fabrics are perfect.

Terry this is really a cute quilt. I like the design pattern. But when did you get this one together as you were working on your son in law to be...quilt?!!

Terryt1955

Conniharns Thanks , I think it is cute too. So much fun picking out the fabric for this one. And I started it while still doing Mike's quilt when I could no longer stand facing another HST! I have finished half the horizontal sashings but it is going slow.

Caribousmom

How did I miss this???? I love it Terry!

HawkFan

I missed it too - love it! Great colors and the pattern is great

True Caribousmom HawkFan Thanks! Hey, have any of you tried the Bloc Lock for flying Geese? After lining all of these up when making the rows I realized that no matter how careful I was trying not to distort them they still did.

HawkFan

I haven't but then again I don't fit HSTs since I press seams open. I can see where you'd get the distortion problem though.

Caribousmom

Terryt1955 Don't feel badly, Terry - distortion with these is always an issue for me too. BUT, what I do is use the stitch/flip method, making them a little oversized and then trim carefully being sure not to lose my points at the top.

HawkFan

OK autocorrect was not helpful. Supposed to say I don't FOR HSTs since I press the seams open (so it doesn't seem to "lock" in place)

I have not but quilterssquare on IG says it is an awesome tool.

True Caribousmom HawkFan SO I asked my Wed night group and while they love the Block Loc it limits you to just 2 sizes. They voted on pp method to get the best results for any size. "Triangulations" to be exact...
