Description

My best grad school friend is getting married in September, so I'm working on this for him and his wife-to-be.  They like poppy red, kelly green, and turquoise.  At first I was worried this might be too bright, but then I remembered the amazing turquoise bookshelf he built for their living room, and I think this will coordinate perfectly.

Update:  Josh emailed to say they love their quilt!  Now I just have to convince them to use it, because he said it's too awesome to snuggle up under...

Amanda

I think the colors are looking beautiful together!

Kirstenblake

I think the colors came together wonderfully!

Rebecca

How fun! Looking forward to seeing this come together.

Caribousmom

Wow, the detail in this one is amazing.

Terryt1955

This is going to knock their socks off, or at least it should! You are an amazing friend. Anyone can pick some towels off a registry but only one can create this with their favorite colors. A treasure.

True

What an amazing amount of work but sure looks good!

Mymble

Wow- just gorgeous and a one of a kind treasure!

Caribousmom

Beautiful!

April

Amazing! I have been looking for a double wedding ring pattern for ages but haven't found one - do you mind if I ask where you found the pattern?

Robynie

April I used this pattern http://www.french-knots.com/double-wedding-ring-quilt-pattern/ I didn't really read the directions (they are tiny when printed out), and I didn't make the number of pieces it said because I was making a different size quilt. Though I'm not sure what size quilt this pattern is meant to make....

Annie

My goodness! This is AMAZING!

Fabricfreak2

I've been too scared to try this pattern but it is one of my projects to attempt before I die.

Robynie

Fabricfreak2 I really haven't had too much trouble, and I am definitely a beginner at curved piecing. I cut notches in the seam allowances to get everything to line up properly, which has worked well so far. It is taking a long time mostly because everything has to be pinned real well. You should go for it!

April

Thank you for the info!

Aprilc

this is gorgeous. a fresh take on a trad pattern with all the brights. i like it!

Caribousmom

SO, so pretty. I like where you are going with the back :) Love that splash of red in there!

Sewwellmaide

I have made this quilt too and I know what a large undertaking this is. Well done. Look forward to seeing the finished quilt. blue_heart Karen

I really like the bright colors and I am impressed with your piecing! Just beautiful.

April I was looking at more of these quilts online today and I discovered McCalls has a free pattern for it to download on their website at http://www.mccallsquilting.com/patterns/details.html?idx=6913 I didn't download it, but it might be helpful to you!

Gail

I love that you reversed the traditional color shading in this pattern. It is gorgeous.

Your quilt is so vibrant and scrappy. I like the pops of red and rings of blue! It will be a family heirloom for sure.
