Description

When my husband's cousin had her first baby - a girl - I decided that was a good excuse to make a baby quilt. Baby fabric is so fun. The first fabric that caught my eye for this quilt was an adorable dancing girl fabric from the “Kiki’s Play Day” collection by Polly Ann Blythe for Camelot Cottons. With this fabric in hand, I quickly selected several different fabrics (some from the same collection) which incorporated pink and the softest of greens. I decided I would cut my fabrics to 4.5″ squares and stitch them together in rows; then fussy cut a strip of the dancing girls to piece in the middle of the quilt. I chose another fabric from the same collection (bubbles in soft green) to bind the entire quilt.

I pieced the back using some left over fabric to make more 4.5″ squares and added another strip of the dancing girl fabric. I used a soft, textured pink fabric for the majority of the back piece.

This quilt measures 35.75″ X 42.25″

Thanks, Mary - I fell in love with that sweet fabric and was so happy to make a quilt with it!

Amazing how a simple quilt design can be spruced up by the addition of a very cute panel of fabric. This baby girl is going to wear this quilt out dragging it everywhere with her especially because it was made by Auntie Wendy.I so l ike the addition of the green! I STILL haven't recovered from overdoing it on pink when my girls were young!

Terryt1955 LOL...This little girl's mom is very girly girl and so I knew she would love all the sweet pinks - but I decided this quilt HAD to have a pop of green in there too!!! I hope it gets worn to pieces baby !!!!
