I'm sewing a set of four cubes with religious symbols appliqued to each face. The faces are cotton and the shapes are flannel, to complement the first set of cube toys. They are:
-Pink fish symbol sewn onto blue with brown thread
-Blue Alpha and Omega sewn onto pink with purple thread
-Green INRI ("Iesus Nazareanus Rex Iudoreaum": Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews) sewn onto yellow with red thread
-Yellow IHS ("In Hoc Signo": In this sign) sewn onto green with orange thread
-White Chi Ro symbol sewn onto black with grey thread
-Black cross sewn onto white with grey thread.
I adhered all the applique pieces with Steam-A-Seam 2 to avoid having them slip during stitching. After the appliqued pieces were stitched on, I sewed the cubes together. The pink and blue sides, yellow and green sides, and black and white sides are opposite each other.
I would have finished these sooner if I hadn't taken two weeks off from sewing after getting my wisdom teeth out (my face was too sore to lean over a sewing machine).
