This is absolutely amazing...your patience and imagination blow me away!
Wow- I thought I'd seen hexagons but this is awesome- my little pile of random hexies ( for which I have no project as of yet!) is bowing to your hexagon empire:)))) I think your husband is going to love the quilt!
OMG - I am amazed, impressed and blown away!!! This is going to be a one of a kind quilt for sure - awesome! I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the sheer number of hexies you have made for this!!!
Gorgeous. I'm blown away by all your hexies!!
Thanks! FYI this quilt is going to be made of 3,942 1/2" hexies
OMG how long did it take you to make that many hexies??!!!!
Okay, now I am overwhelmed LOL! And I thought I was a little crazy when I cut out fourteen hundred 3.5" triangles!! But the result will be fabulous!
holy smokes! This is incredible!
A-maz-ing. The hexies are so tiny! How big will the finished quilt be? Did you create the pattern?
Gail you rock! You also need to post the squid quilt, that one is amazing too!
Absolutely. Amazing. In awe!!!
wow wow wow! All I can say is wow!
WOW! amazing and beautiful and incredible and patience!!! i'm blown away!
This is absolutely amazing! I can't wait to see it when it is completely finished.
This really is truly amazing. I do not think I could ever come up with something like this. I love your color select and wish I had some of your patience. Fabulous
this is certainly coming together. it must have taken a lot of planning.
Wow! This is going to be awesome!
Every time I look at this I am just in awe!
Wow... just wow!
Wow! This is amazing! And those hexies are tiny! I can't wait to see more of this!
Your design, planning and execution are truly awesome-this seems like a ribbon winning quilt- at least based on the ones I've seen at our state fair , this would definitely take the prize:))
Um, this is BREATHTAKING!!
flushed flushed flushed:
I meant to say
This is FANTASTIC! : )
Okay you are still blowing my mind with this one! Ah-mazing!
Gail, this is just such an amazing feat. I'll be really interested in seeing how you decide to quilt it too! Great job, well worth the effort.
I don't even have words!
So. Cool. !!!
I love it!
Wow you've got to be kidding...that's the most creative quilt I have EVER seen! Never seen anybody make art with hexies, you've got me looking at them in a whole new light.
Wow! I did not know you could do that with Hexagons. I will view them in a new light.
Amazing! Always wanted to do something like that, but feels overwhelming to me.
Good gravy, that's amazing! I love the look of hexies, but seriously doubt I'll ever have the patience. I'll just be forever in awe of your work instead.
I am in awe! 'Good golly miss molly' this is fabulous. So much patience, so much skill. Can't wait to see the finished result. Karen
All I can say is WOW!
Wow your dragon is absolutely amazing. I have wanted to try a hexi project but have been afraid. Heather
So fun to watch it progress. Congrats on the impending (top) finish!! Yay!
Incredible-love watching the dragon grow! I think you are going to need a drumroll of sorts when it's done- maybe Alex can figure our how to add sound;))))
Ditto to the congrats and the pleasure in watching this grow!!
Wow! I'm also enjoying watching the process--loved all your pics of your organizational techniques and each step of the progress. Amazing!
HI Gail, I saw this at the PMQG sew day, it's coming along nicely! Loving to watch it come alive!
What an incredible work of art!
Just........wow. The time, patience, skill, organization......and everything else you've put into this. It certainly shows!! Just incredible. :)
It looks great!
It is so fun to watch the progress. I think we are all cheering you on. Your quilt is beautiful.
WOW!! I saw your Squid hexie quilt at the Quilt Expo in PDX . I love it.
It is magnificent and you are making marvellous progress.
Wow wow wow
This is one awesome quilt!
Wow wow wow just showed this to my 20 yo son...he is as blown away as I am!!! Congrats!!
I'm not sure how many times I can say it's amazing but I figure once more won't hurt. It's AMAZING! You are so dedicated to the hexi's. (I need to work on mine so bad) Maybe we can get together for some stitching time in early Nov? I'd love to have you over!
Love how it came out! Can't wait to see how you decide to quilt it.
This is totally amazing!!!!
wonderful accomplishment. It is beautiful.
this is amazing and from someone who had a bad experience of hexies as a child, I am nearly tempted back to them. What a great use of them.
OMG Hexies are on my bucket list. Haven't had the nerve to try them yet. You are amazing. I've never seen anything like it!
WOW! This is unbelievable! I'm at a loss for words.
Truly amazing. This makes my grandmother's flower garden quilt look lame. What a gorgeous piece of art you made!
O_O This is absolutely incredible!!!
Shut up!! This is amazing!!!
This is simply amazing!! Question for you - did you cut/punch holes in the middle of your paper pieces to make them easier to remove at the end?
Rebecca Yes I did ~ best idea ever!! Saved myself A LOT of time in the end. I also only basted from the backside (not through the paper to the front), so I didn't even need to take out the basting to get them out.
Ok, awesome! Thanks! I'm working on some 1" hexies now and had noticed that in one of your pictures. I'm just basting from the back as well and I think going forward I'm going to put some holes in the middle of the papers. I'm guessing the smaller the hexy the harder they are to get out too. I can see how the holes would make it much easier since you have someplace to pop it out rather than trying to get ahold of the sides right up next to the seams.
WOW.... the patience and the determination are astounding!
and did I mention PERSEVERANCE!
Well I'M super excited to see it and YOU on Monday. Woo! ^^
You are so close! I can't wait to see how you quilt this one!
Continues to just amaze me...cannot wait to see it done!
Wow - quilting begins. Fantastic. Is that your studio?
Skunklady OMGosh... I WISH that was my studio! That is the studio at Just Quilting in SE Portland, OR ~ the Dragon was professionally basted so that my quilting will hopefully be better in the end. Still practicing, I can only seem to get about 5 stitches per inch, I would like to get it up to at least 7 before starting.
My first quilt was a king size grandmothers flower garden and this piece makes that seem VERY elementary...awesome job!!!
This is a work of art and amazes me more every time I see it!!
Keep on enjoying the process. It's looking marvellous.
WOW!!! Your unique quilt is amazing! Just fantastic work and you are so talented with tiny hexagons! x Teje
Absolutely beautiful - I'm starting up a hexagon bee if you are interested - check out the post with details. Would love to have you!!
Stunning french knots.
Well that is absolutely stunning and awe inspiring. You have such patience to make all those hexies. The end result is something to be very proud of. Did you design this yourself or have a pattern? Well done. Your husband must be delighted with his quilt.
Cannot wait for more pictures since seeing it in person is not an option;-). Truly amazing!
OMG it's as if you gave birth! What an amazing finish. Can't pop in to Portland so pictures will have to suffice. WHat will you do when the let down sets in?
You'd better lock your doors because I'm planning on breaking and entering to steal that. Tell your husband he'd better not give me any trouble. It is absolutely gorgeous!
Terryt1955 Totally ~ and thank you! Not sure what I'm doing next... but I know I'm not done with hexies yet!! ;)
