Description

**Finished piecing this quilt top on 7/23/2012.  Of course, I realized half-way thru assembling the top that I had assembled one of the blocks wrong :(  It was way too late, IMO to tear it all apart.  Because I know what's "wrong" I can see how it disrupts the flow of the top a bit... but I doubt that my husband will notice, so it stays as is.

I am making this quilt for my husband for his 45th birthday.  I've have the fabric cut for several weeks, but life has gotten in the way of the piecing.  I'm trying to keep it a secret, so I also have to work on it only when my DH is not home, since he does actually pay attention to the things I'm making.

Cute fabric. I love D S fabric. This fabric is from her better quality fabric. Great choice.

Janquilter

Love seeing your progress...I have looked at this pattern before...is it an easy pattern to follow?

Turtlesrs

It is a very easy pattern to follow. I would highly recommend it. Julie gives cutting instructions and assembly instructions, too. Plus, it's all straight cutting and sewing :)

I am looking forward to seeing this one finished! That DS fabric is so vintage looking, and yet has a fresh modern feel too. Love it!

I have no clue where you made a mistake... I love this and I think you have made me add it to my someday list!

Very nice colors and I love the pattern. Was waiting to see the finish top.

I love it!! :)

I can't find your mistake either! This is so great - I'm sure your DH will LOVE it!

Turtlesrs in the pattern does she give suggestion for fabrics as far as color placement for impact? Or did you just play with it? Does that even make sense?

Turtlesrs

True - I don't know how to tag you in the comment, so I hope you see this..

The pattern does not give suggestions re: placement for impact, etc. There are 8 fabrics in this quilt.... 4 that are used more and 4 that are used slightly less (In my quilt you needed 1 1/2 yards of 4 fabrics plus 1 yard of 4 fabrics) In this specific quilt that I made, the fabric choices were COMPLETELY

crud... hit enter by mistake... anyway, my choices for totally reliant upon what fabrics were in my stash that I had the necessary amounts of! Luckily, it seemed to work okay... I was a bit worried about that. Of course, it also meant I just had to make it and I couldn't really agonize about it too much .

Thanks! Turtlesrs (to tag you add a + right before name with no space between it and name:-) You fabrics really worked well so I am impressed you were just going with it!!
