My sister, Paula (+dtscrapper ), is celebrating her birthday this month and although I had already bought her a present, I decided to make her a little “mug rug” to enjoy as well.
This mug rug was made using orange and turquoise scraps from my ever increasing scrap bin. I used a clean white background to set off the colors and quilted it with straight diagonal lines. The design is my own, but it is inspired by a couple of patterns in the Modern Quilting book by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pederson. It measures 7″ X 7″ which is perfect for a mug.
The back is a large scrap of Kaffe Fassett fabric that I love. And of course, I could not resist stitching a tiny label.
I love it...the pattern, colors and quilting.
oh and I always LOVE your labels!
So cute, love your fabric choices. I agree with True, the label just finishes the mug rug....
The second I saw this, I knew it was yours before I even looked at the name. She is going to love it. Once again, love you color choices.
Aw, you know me too well Cathie ( Quilt455 ). She actually got it today and called to "squee" over it (which is why I can now share it with all of you!).
What a great thing to face first thing in the morning! I hope you sent her the mug as well because it's perfectly matched. Love the orange and turquoise together. Yes LOVE the orange!
What a wonderful idea, I love the colours. I must added this to my to do list, which means I my need to go fabric shopping ........... Iam glad yoiur sister love it.
Great mug rug! They are addictive aren't they? I'm working on a quilt now but my mind keeps going to mug rug ideas.
Addicting they are...I have even got the joining the ends of the binding down to a quick finish! I just love the fact you can try something new and different without a huge committment...and as I discovered last night even when hot and muggy one can do a mug rug as they do not have to be all over you making you hotter!
Terryt1955 My goal is to make you a lover of the color orange LOL! Legogirl if you have any scraps, that is all you need to make one of these little mug rugs...I used only left over scraps, some as tiny as 2" square. Chrissybugs Totally addictive! I keep coming up with more ideas for them! True you need to share your technique for joining those pesky binding ends!
great colors and great design! I love it!
And it's mine....all mine!!! I literally squeeled with delight when I opened the package and discovered this fantasically modern, happy mug rug - my first ever! It's even cuter in person and of course I especially love it to pieces because my dear, sweet soul sister created it especially for me - thanks Wendy!!!
Terryt1955 it is the same binding instructions I already sent you...I can sen again if you need me to just let me know.
sen really is send;-)
True Oops. Can you tell I haven't tried the paper piecing yet? I'm really not that flakey, just over committed on projects. I'm going to make sure that I saved it in a safe spot. If not I might need you to resend it.
Silly, who wouldn't love it.
