Description

I have to admit, this is my favorite sewing/quilting project I've done so far. I bought all the vintage appliqued butterfly blocks at an antique shop for $6 total. Yes, that's right, $6. They were joined together with sashing fabric in two long rows and left unfinished. (Shown in one of the photos) The red & white fabric used in the Irish chain blocks is the original sashing fabric. The black & white is contemporary reproduction. The squares in the Irish Chain blocks are not perfectly aligned, but I don't care, it hangs above my bed, and it makes me happy :-)

Just beautiful! I love making something new out of something old. I buy from garage sales and antique shops for blocks I can use. This is a wonderful way to use all the elements but give the quilt a breath of fresh air.

What a terrific story behind this quilt! And $6?!?!? Wow, what a steal. I love how you re-used the original sashing. This is a treasure. I can see why you love it!
