Description

I am making these coasters from Hexagons.  The fabric is from a panel of a curtain that my mom had in the kitchen when she was growing up on a farm in Oklahoma, back in the 1930-1940's.  I am making one for each of my aunts and uncle and maybe for my cousins.  It could also be a small wall hanging.  I'll post pictures of the finished ones soon.

I added the photos of the first coaster I made from the hexagons, the peach coaster. This was a simple project to learn this technique.  I need to finish the watermelon and strawberry coasters.

I used Scotch-Guard on the coasters to make them waterproof and stain resistant.

Make a small round bias binding, from a single layer of fabric - not doubled- has been a challenge!  But I'm getting the hang of it.

Very nice. I am sure that your aunts and uncles will love these.

Great ideas! I never thought about Scotch-Guarding them. Made a whole bunch of coasters for Christmas this year. Yours are cute. Especially, the ones from the kitchen curtains. I like that idea, for the nostalgia of it.
