Description

I would love to tell you more really I would but...so here are some hints from my very helpful kitty, Sebago (who also managed to some how unfold my yellow solid so he could lie on it and wrinkle it to high heaven!)  If you look closely at the pictures you might find sneak peaks of some fabric which may or may not be part of the plan;-) and here are the rest of his hints...
1.  Popsicles and decorative pie crust cutouts come in shapes that might surprise you.
2.  If you are an adult at our summer picnic you might be drawn to the pies...blueberry, raspberry, blackberry and possibly peach to name a few...
3.  If your a child the Popsicle selection might be more to your liking with orange, grape, raspberry and perhaps even a lime or two;-)

Caribousmom

Very interesting!!! Looking good :)

Terryt1955

Haha I'd say Sebago has laid dibs on the mug rug. I thought I had it bad with my 2 dogs underfoot while trying to get anything done but it looks like Mr Sebago is quite persuasive in the attention grabbing mode!

HMMMMM

True

Right now he just has the fabric;-). The mug rug has not yet been started but soon...it is all planned out just need to do it! He seriously thinks he owns the fabric...

Caribousmom

Yes, post pictures! I think that is what we are supposed to do!

True

There you go:-)

Caribousmom

Totally love it!!

Chrissybugs

Very cool. I love birds, especially cute, comical ones. Good job.

Rebecca

Fantastic! I love it!

True

Thank you Caribousmom and Chrissybugs ... And it really is squared despite how it looks in picture!!

True

Thanks Rebecca was posting same time you were:-)

Terryt1955

This is darling!!! What stitch did you use to do the applique? It almost looks like a chain stitch done by machine?

True

Terryt1955 it is called sketchy stitching and is done through FMQ...you just are going around or over same area 3-4 times and not trying to stay on top of previous stitching...which works well for me;-) I got pattern and idea from the book "Little Birds: 26 Handmade Projects to Sew, Stitch, Quilt & Love" but also just added a tutorial to show you... thanks!

Terryt1955

True , well isn't that just the neatest thing, that sketchy stitching! Thanks for the tutorial! You are really taking off with the FMQ...

True

Thanks Terryt1955 I actually only am using FMQ on small things or artsy quilts...I love seeing it on everyone else's quilts but on my own I love my straight line quilting. As I think I said somewhere before I do reserve the right to change my mind;-)

Quilt455

Cute, cute and cute. Oh did I say cute.

Kirstenblake

This is adorable!

True

Thanks Carolmarie , Quilt455 and Kirstenblake i am really happy with it...hope my swap partner is as well:-)

Robotmomsews

I love the birds and the 'sketchy stitching'! Super cute!

Mrsdragon

This mat is adorable, I love those birds! I adore sketchy stitching, it's a skill I want to learn. : )

True

Thank you Robotmomsews and Mrsdragon I was just getting it all set to be mailed- so I can stick it in mail on 24th as I will be just returning from vacation then! Sketchy stitching is super easy...for me hardest part was letting go of my own need for order and thinking things need to be a certain way!

Pompom

Gorgeous, so cute.

True

Pompom Thank you...decided last night as falling asleep I need to do five of these for my book club members for the holiday...wish I had thought that out a month ago since we will be celebrating early!!
