Oh, this is going to be wonderful!

Amanda

This is going to be so great. I love the fabrics you picked, and that Refrigerator Magnets pattern will make such great letters.

This is looking so awesome! I love it! On the circles did you use a one sided fusible, or a two sided? I usually use the heat n bond lite sewable when doing machine appliqué. So I fuse the heat n bond to my fabric, cut out the shape, then peel the paper backing off and fuse to my foundation. So far that has worked well for me, plus lifting my presser foot a lot and letting the fabric relax back into place. I bet when you wash it though that pucker will hardly show.

Juline

I've been using Steam-A-Seam Lite, but it's kind of a pain. You're supposed to be able to heat your fabric with the iron, stick the fusible stuff on the fabric, then peel off the paper. This allows you to move around the pieces until you're ready to permanently set them with the iron. But I found the pieces just wouldn't stick very well at all.

Anyway, I got the pucker because I didn't cover the entire piece of applique in the fusible material because I didn't want it to be stiff. So I took out the stitches and added more pieces of fusible, and that worked out better.

Wow this is such a fun quilt! Great job!

Janquilter

So cute! Met all the requests and is adorable to boot! I love his name on there.

Amanda

Love how this turned out! And I love the big Refrigerator Magnets letters - I haven't used that pattern yet. What did you think of it?

Juline

Thanks!

I loved the Refrigerator Magnets -- really easy, a brilliant method!

Sewzalot

I love this quilt. I have so much admiration for those Juline who can design their own quilts. I love your fabrics, layout, and how special it is that the quilt includes memories of the baby's Grandfather.

Kristananne

I like the idea of piecing the raiders/33 stuff into the back.

Maybe you could quilt it with a 3 pattern to incorporate the 33 into the top? Does that even make sense? Like how sometimes you see a loopy lowercase L pattern, but instead do 3s.

Could you bind it in Raiders fabric? It's small enough not to take away from the top, I think.

Juline

I kinda like the "3" quilting idea. I'm still undecided about how I'm going to quilt it, so I'll play with that. Thank you! As for the binding, I think I'm going to use the plaid fabric. I like the idea of the Raiders shield on the back being kind of a hidden surprise :).

Juline

I just uploaded some practice doodling. I think it could work. I have to check with the person I'm making it for, but I think you just solved one of my dilemmas. Thanks!

Kristananne

Hurray!

Aizome

Wow! Adorable!!!

Pioneerquilter

What an awesome quilt! That whale is fabulous. And I really like that sailboat fabric paired with the waves. Really creative!

Juline

Thank you :). Does anyone have any input as far as quilting? I can't make a decision. (What else is new?!)
