I frequently wear navy blue and was feeling the need for a navy bag. so when I saw the new fabric from Westminster, "Bromley" I knew I had found my fabric. The collection is made up of reproduction fabrics from the Victoria & Albert Museum and every one is great. I chose Breeze Navy, Cycle Navy and Ikat Damask Navy. The solid navy is an Italian cotton twill with a very slight 'rib' to it- super fine and has a great weight for a bag.
For the design, I was going to just 'come up with something' but then I found a great pattern for the bag I had envisioned- a not too big over the shoulder bag. The pattern is called Swing Bag from Nancy Green of Pink Sand Beach, and it was featured in the fall 2012 editions of Fons & Porter "Easy Quilts". The pattern was super easy and it is definitely a pattern I will return to- this bag is just the right size to make a quick gift that won't look so "quick".
