Description

I am making this quilt as a TV watching quilt. I am trying to decide what to put on the back, after wandering around a few fabric stores with no real luck. I think I will end up ordering one of the prints from the front. I think I will quilt either with an all over meandering style stitch or maybe a loopy one. I have never quilted with the free motion quilting foot before. (Although I have not done a lot of things at this point in my quilting history!!) The pattern is from a Fons and Porter magazine - I will put it in when I find it.

Update! Ordered some backing fabric from the same line and have everything ready to start quilting!

Pattern is Big Print Bounty from McCalls Quilting Fast Quilts Spring 2012.

Love fabrics and great first quilt...and I am impressed with your willingness to take on FMQ. Will look forward to seeing this one done...good luck and welcome to the addicting world of quilting;-) For the back you could also see if there is another fabric in collection you like that picks up the same colors...

ok I need writing and reading lessons...I know this was not your first quilt...so should have said great job either way;-)

What a bright and cheerful quilt. Perfect for snuggling while watching TV.

Beautiful fabrics-and they work so well together-think the meandering FMQ-ing will be great on this quilt!

Caribousmom

This is beautiful - love the mix of fabrics. For the back, you don't have to restrict yourself to just one fabric - you could use two or three and piece the back :)

Free motion is fun. I did it on my little girl's quilt. I made a ton of mistakes but the best part is only I know about them. Once the quilt was washed all the meandering made it into a nice crinkled quilt, you couldn't see the stitches unless you were close up. Great fabric on this! I look forward to watching you progress!

Love the colors/fabrics! I agree with Caribousmom, I do like to piece the back. It's a nice way to use up some of the extra fabric from the top.

Thanks I am looking forward to starting the quilting once I get past a bit of teething!

Very pretty quilt. I love the colors in your quilt. I was searching for help on free motion quilting this weekend and came across a great website that has tutorials on FMQ. It is http://sewcalgal.blogspot.com.
