Description

One of my favorite books at the moment is "little bits Quilting Bee" by Kathreen Ricketson. I loved "lollipop tree", and wanted to make it for my youngest daughter, Glenna so when I found the  jelly roll strips at a local "Day of the week discount store"- and they just had a funkyness which just fit her...that was it.

Top is completed but now I have to back it. I have some extra blocks (will get the pics on asap) which could be pieced in, but my thinking is that I should use another center white panel to back the applique panel-perhaps just work the blocks in -or should I get some solid and do a large solid border? Ideas please:))

I also bought a pkg. of fat quarters with it, so I have extra yardage of the prints to use as well- either work it in the back or make some pillows?

True

What a bright and cheerful and pretty quilt!

Mymble

Thanks True -that's my Glenna- bright and cheerful so it just seemed to beg to be made for her:)

I love medallion quilts! The pop of applique in the center makes your eye want to explore the rest of the quilt. What a fun quilt for a girl.

Mymble

Thanks Janquilter LOL- I didn't even know that's what they were called:)))- the pattern is a fun one I would probably do again- maybe in the light toned fabrics the author originally used.

Oh this is really great - I love that center block. I bet some pieced solids which would pick up the other colors in the quilt would look awesome around a white center for the back...

Terryt1955

I bet your daughter flipped over this! Perfect for a 12 year old!

Mymble

Great idea Caribousmom -something which would balance the busyness of the front?...yes, +Terry1955 she liked it alot...she's actually 16 :)-still sweet- I envisioned this as a "picnic quilt for her.

Mymble

sorry Terryt1955 - missed the little t in your id ;)

Aizome

A lollipop tree! heart I love it! Adorable!

Mymble

Aizome Thanks! I am about 3/4 of the way through piecing the back. and then on to the quilting part- this has been a fun bunch of fabrics to work with.

Mymble

Carolmarie Yes...it was not as difficult as I imagined and went fairly fast. Funny...I just got this out last week to finish for Glenna...need batting and I am thinking of using bamboo as I've heard good things about it...have you tried it?

Mymble

I will- supposedly it is lighter, and quilts easily- so yes, will definitely give the feedback- now just need to get to my BIG BOX store with my coupon to get it;))))
