Description

I taught myself to quilt from the Internet and the very few books I used to find scrounging in second hand bookshops in Bangalore, India. When I moved to Toronto and started working at Sew Sisters Quilt Shop my very wonderful boss offered for me to take the Beginner's Machine Quilting class free of charge! She even offered the use of the store machine. I was super excited! For one I would be sewing again (I didn't have a sewing machine at that time since I couldn't bring mine over) and I would actually have an experienced teacher I could learn from. We made this quilt in the class. It was supposed to be a lap size but I made it a queen and gave it to my niece.
I started strip piecing with this quilt - I can't for the life of me understand why I wasn' t doing it before - and I sqaured up every block and learned to strive for more perfection than I have done before. I decided to quilt straight lines in the negative space. I love how it turned out.

I love this - both the quilting and the patchwork. I love straight line quilting in negative space.

Wow, this is a really, really pretty quilt! I LOVE that narrow straight line quilting...it really compliments the quilt!
