Description

This style is  one of my favorites to make and it is easy to wear. It is casual as well as dressy. I had a lot of challis fabric and I decided to make a jacket out of it so I made the whole jacket and lining using these fabrics. I like it because it is soft and flowing. It has 4 pockets. It is not reversible but you will want to wear it on both sides. When I put lining in jackets and coats I want other seamstress to look for the the opening where I turned it.

I don't know what challis is but it looks like it has wonderful drape qualities! Did the pattern include the checkerboard piecing or did you come up with that on your own? Lovely jacket! I can see it with jeans or a skirt or slacks. Very versatile! Who makes the pattern?

Actually it is a pattern that a friend drafted for me a long time ago. Challis is a very drapey soft fabric, there is wool challis and rayon challis, this is rayon challis. This fabric was pre-washed because it really shrinks.

Good to know about the shrinkage factor. I bought a jacket pattern at a quilt show but wanted it to be flowing so it sounds like challis would be a good choice. i want it to be lightweight but still hide the fat!

Yes challis is a good fabric, it has a lot of body but not too heavy. I am glad you like my jacket. It is nice to get some positive feedback.
