This is amazing! I love all the piecing and how all the colors create the photo.
That is so precious. Such a sweet quilt and image of your mom. What a great class that must have been. I would love to take a class and learn how to do that someday.
OMGosh this is amazing. I am so impressed with these gorgeous quilts. I would love to take a class by Ruth McDowell. This is such a special quilt, a real heirloom. I love that you used this old photo as your inspiration.
I saw that Ruth McDowell is in Massachusettes and has many books. Kathydb I was wondering if their is one book in particular that would give instruction on how to do this process? Thank you so much, Debbie
What a wonderful quilt. It's sure to become an heirloom. I have several of Ruth McDowell's books and would love to take a class with her. Looks like you have mastered the technique!
I don't even have words to express how wonderful I think this quilt is from the sentiment behind it to the complexity to how gorgeous it is...truly spectacular!
I just saw that Ruth McDowall left teaching in June 2012...which is unfortunate for those of us who never got to learn directly from her. But, I bet others will begin teaching her techniques...and it looks like she has a raft of books out there...
Thanks, all, for your lovely comments!!! It's true, Ruth retired in June. I was lucky enough to have taken three 5 day workshops with her. I recall her saying that "Pieced Vegetables" is her personal favorite book. But they are all great, trust the process and go for it. I would say, start with one of her Vegetables or Flowers to get the hang of it. I'm working on another two right now. Maybe I'll post the progress...Just directed to this website yesterday by Seamed up.
Wow, wow, wow!!!
Love LOVE this!!
